We’re working with manufacturing partners around the world to meet the needs of the $1tn global water market, delivering multiple projects, including lithium enrichment, municipal water reuse, pharmaceutical process water and industrial Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).

How we work

Salinity Solutions is a technology development company. Once a new project is identified, we work with specialist delivery partners who design, manufacture and operate systems for our customers. We also have six patents and a strategy for continuous improvement, supported by our ongoing collaboration with University of Birmingham.

Global Projects

Food and beverage
F&B: A global food giant wants to reduce the amount of freshwater used in manufacturing. They want to install HyBatch process after their current RO to minimise water losses

Vertical farming
Vertical farming is already a smart use of water, GrowUp Farms want to reuse as much of their wastewater as possible. Field trial showed we can reuse up to 98% of their wastewater at less than 1 kwh/m3

Pharmaceutical

Municipal water reuse
As water scarcity and droughts increase around the world and demand for Direct to Potable (DTP) is growing, Suez are looking for the next big technology for water reuse.

Industrial water reuse
Electroplating facility has strict regulations on disposing of Chromium III. HyBatch has been installed to both recover water from their waste for reuse and to reuse recaptured Chromium III in the production process.

Zero Liquid Discharge
India has introduced strict laws on zero liquid discharge (ZLD), Salinity has partnered with a high-efficiency evaporation technology, in which our HyBatch process drastically reduces the demand on the evaporator, thereby reducing the energy consumption of the whole process.

Zero liquid discharge
Toshiba is looking for a potential replacement for their existing high pH RO process for Zero Liquid Discharge.

Case studies

Testing the impact of HyBatch Reverse Osmosis technology on vertical farming as a step towards Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD)

Agriculture is the largest user of water globally. Vertical farms – farming on vertically stacked layers – use between 70% and 90% less water (and therefore nutrients and fertilisers), however their holy grail is to operate a closed-loop production system in which all water and nutrient is recycled, known as Zero-Liquid Discharge (ZLD).
